Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the Carga app for iPhone and iPad uses, who receives it and what rights you have. We wrote it to be clear and complete; if anything is unclear, contact us.
1. Who is responsible
The party responsible for your personal data is Jorge Flores Carlos, an individual independent developer in Mexico (“we”). Address for the purposes of this policy: . Contact: soporte@jfdeveloper.com.
This policy is issued under the Mexican Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP).
2. Summary
- There are no accounts, no analytics SDK and no server of our own. We do not receive your data.
- Your favorites, cars, parking spots and price history are stored only on your device.
- To show you nearby stations, the app sends coordinates to third-party services (Apple Maps, Open Charge Map and OpenStreetMap Overpass).
- For now the app is not distributed in the EU App Store.
- Outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app shows Google AdMob ads. Google receives some device data to serve them (section 6).
3. Data the app uses and where it goes
| Data | Purpose | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Location (only while you use the app, with your permission) | Find nearby gas stations and chargers, distances, travel times, directions and the direction arrow. | Processed on your device. Coordinates or the visible map area are sent to Apple Maps (MapKit), Open Charge Map and OpenStreetMap Overpass to fetch stations, and to Apple to turn coordinates into an address or neighborhood. These services also see your IP address, like any site you connect to. |
| Mexico gas prices | Show official prices. | The app downloads public files from the CNE (Comisión Nacional de Energía). That download contains no data about you. When it refreshes the prices of a municipality, the request includes the state and municipality codes of where you are, which are worked out from your location on the device; your coordinates are not sent. The CNE sees your IP address. |
| Your car's VIN, if you scan or type it | Identify the make, model and year of your car. | Sent to the public NHTSA vPIC API (United States). To estimate range and consumption, the app queries the fueleconomy.gov (EPA) API with year, make and model, not the VIN. The car is stored on your device. |
| Camera | Scan the VIN, read prices from a gas station sign and identify your car's charging plug. | On your device only. Images are not sent to us or to third parties. |
| Motion and visits (optional) | Detect that you stopped driving so the app can save where you parked. It only works if you turn on parking detection in the app and grant the Motion & Fitness permission. | On your device only. If you enter the name of your car's Bluetooth audio, the app compares it on the device to recognize it. |
| Natural-language search (“Ask”) | Interpret what you type, for example “cheap Magna gas nearby”. | Uses Apple's on-device language model when your device supports it. The text is not sent to us. |
| Favorites, cars, parking spots, price history | App features. | Stored on your device (SwiftData). We do not receive them or sync them to any server of ours. |
| Widgets, Apple Watch and notifications | Show what is nearest and alert you to things you schedule. | Shared between the app, widgets and watch within your own device. Notifications are local. |
4. What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account or give contact details inside the app.
- We include no analytics, attribution or tracking SDK of our own.
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and do not track you across other companies' apps.
5. Third-party map and data services
Each service has its own privacy policy. When you use the matching feature, your coordinates and IP address reach:
- Apple (Maps and MapKit, search, routing, geocoding).
- Open Charge Map (charger data, CC BY 4.0 license).
- OpenStreetMap Foundation, through the Overpass service (gas station data, ODbL license).
- CNE (gas prices; no user data beyond what is described above).
- NHTSA and fueleconomy.gov (only if you use My Car with a VIN or with year, make and model).
6. Ads (Google AdMob)
The app shows native ads from Google AdMob inside some lists. There are no ads on maps, widgets, Apple Watch or notifications.
- Only outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. The region is determined from your App Store storefront and, if that is not available, from your device region. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the ad SDK is not even started and no ad request is sent.
- Non-personalized. We always request non-personalized ads and we do not show Apple's tracking prompt.
- Data Google may collect when ads are shown: device identifier, coarse location, advertising data, product interaction (for example, taps on an ad) and diagnostics and performance data (including crash reports). Google uses it to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud and keep the service running. Google, not us, receives and controls this information.
See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
7. Children
Carga is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child gave us data, contact us and we will delete it. We recommend that minors use the app under adult supervision.
8. Data retention
We do not keep your data on servers of ours because we have none. The app's data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Third-party services keep data according to their own policies.
9. Your rights (ARCO rights)
Under the LFPDPPP you have the right to Access your personal data, Rectify it, Cancel it and Oppose its processing (the “derechos ARCO”), and to withdraw your consent. Because we do not hold your data on servers of ours, the most direct way to exercise them is on your device: change or remove permissions in Settings, and delete your data by uninstalling the app. For data held by the third parties in section 5 or by Google, exercise your rights with them directly.
If you want to make an ARCO request to us, write to soporte@jfdeveloper.com with your name, a way to contact you, a clear description of your request and, if applicable, supporting documents. We will answer within 20 business days. If you believe your rights were not honored, you may go to the competent personal data protection authority in Mexico.
10. Security
All of the app's connections use HTTPS. Local data is stored in iOS protected storage on your device.
11. Transfers
Some of the services described are outside Mexico (for example, the United States and the European Union). When you use features that need them, your data is transferred to them as described above. You can turn off location in Settings at any time; the app keeps working by searching the map.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new last-updated date. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app or on the App Store listing.
